Seminar on Improving the quality of architectural examination

President of Association of Architects Ministry of Construction, architect Ho Chi Minh contributed his opinion on the architectural examination.

Opening the Seminar, President of Architects Association of National Institute of Architects (VIAr), PhD. Nguyen Tat Thang has raised 3 major problems in the current architecture examination. The first is that the competition for architecture is strongly influenced by the 4.0 technology revolution, environmental protection, cultural identity and a number of other factors.

The second problem is the examination work in the past 10 years involving many different subjects, from investors, design consultants to the Judging Council. The third problem is the impact of the foreign architects market on architectural competitions in Vietnam. Therefore, domestic architects need to improve their qualifications to increase competitiveness.

A summary of the architectural examination of VIAr Institute in the period 2014 - 2021, MSc.KTS. Vu Dinh Thanh said, the Institute has participated in a total of 44 architectural competition, reaping 25 awards, including 14 highest awards.

In which, some competitions where VIAr won the high prize are Joining hands to construct rural housing in Vietnam, Thai Binh Museum, General planning of Bao Loc city - Lam Dong, Museum of archaeological relic area 18 Hoang Dieu , Lang Son Provincial Administrative Center, Da Nang City Museum or National Exhibition Center.

In addition, VIAr also organized many large architectural contests, especially two contests for planning the two sides of the Han River (Da Nang) and housing for disaster prevention. According to the Institute's assessment, participating in the architectural competition will require architects to sacrifice a lot of time, effort and money. But in return, architects can sign contracts, improve their knowledge of architecture and position themselves in the architecture consulting market.

During the discussion, architect Nguyen Tien Thuan affirmed that the ultimate goal of improving the quality of architectural competitions is to build an architecture imbued with Vietnamese national identity. Besides, he also mentioned the role of architecture competitions in the development of architects.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Office of the Vietnam Association of Architects, architect Pham Thanh Tung shared about supporting localities to develop architectural identity and architectural development in accordance with each stage of historical development. .

Talking about the architectural examination, the President of the Association of Architects of the Ministry of Construction, Architects Ho Chi Minh noted the issue of improving the way of exams to attract the participation of excellent architects, improving the quality of the Committee. the contest organization, the way of judging and the architects of the contest must also learn clearly about the contest documents, the contest regulations. In addition, architect Ho Chi Minh also petitioned the National Institute of Architecture to develop a standard manual to organize architectural competitions.

Architect Pham Thanh Tung awarded the decision to recognize members of the Vietnam Association of Architects to 5 architects of the Association of Architects, National Institute of Architecture.

In the next remarks, Director of the National Institute of Architects, architect Do Thanh Tung raised the issue of the interests of the architect when participating in the competitions, and at the same time suggested the architects improve their professionalism in both thinking and working. After that, the architects of VIAr Institute also shared some issues related to the architectural examination such as the combination of the investor and state management agencies, the role of state management agencies in the organization of competitions, regulations on architecture examination in the Law of Architecture ...

On the occasion of this seminar, architect Pham Thanh Tung announced and awarded the Decision recognizing Membership of the Vietnam Association of Architects to 5 architects of the Association of Architects, National Institute of Architects, which are architects To Thi Van Anh, Le Duy Duong, Sam My Duc, Nguyen Quoc Hoang and Trinh Tuan Son.
